Acustica Audio has released Coral Baxter, a freeware Baxandall equalizer effect in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin formats for digital audio workstations on PC and Mac.

Coral Baxter is based on the Baxandall equalizer section from Acoustica Audio’s recently released Coral2 channel strip plugin. The freely downloadable edition of the plugin comes with the same features as the Baxandall EQ module included in Coral2 minus the mid-side processing capabilities. Like all other Acustica Audio products, Coral Baxter relies on “dynamic impulse responses” to deliver the authentic hardware gear sound in a software product. This results in high-quality processing and pristine sound quality, albeit with a somewhat higher CPU hit.

The interface features only six knobs and a switch for turning the preamp section on or off. The knobs control the cutoff and shelf of the EQ curve, as well as the volume gain.
